Port of Wells prints

The Port of Wells on the north Norfolk coast. I first visited Wells on a school trip many many years ago… and I remember entering the harbour as clearly as if it were yesterday. I felt like I knew the place instantly even though I had never been there before. To this day, it has remained my favourite place in the whole of Norfolk, probably even in the whole world, and I have had the good fortune to travel pretty extensively.

The images shown below specifically celebrate the Port of Wells: the boats both working and leisure, the iconic Gantry, the Harbour office and pontoon, the Lifeboat Horse, the East Harbour and the RNLI Lifeboat House. All with their own special uniqueness. Big skies and boats, who could ask for more?

The Lifeboat Station

I will give a little explanation here for the first image in this series. The RNLI Lifeboat Station at the Port of Wells is currently being replaced with a new station. This view has been an iconic part of Wells for very many years so as excited as I am to see the new Lifeboat Station in situ, I will always remember the former one fondly.

The Lifeboat Horse

This sculpture by Rachael Long stands in the Port of Wells every year for the summer season. It is there to commemorate the working horses of Wells. The horses used to pull the lifeboat from Holkham. I managed to capture this image when the sea lavender was out hence the purple haze in the water.
